Balance! Spend an extra few hours at work? Or keep the social commitment you made weeks back? Spend the weekend living up the good life? Or redefining what a good life is, by catching up on some sleep? Let the Netflix auto-stream decide what you work your retinas on? Or spend yet another evening in a game of Netflix and Browse (hate that game.…but can’t stop playing!!!!) Every balancing act has had us in knots at some point. And we all have our bagful of stories on them.
As these examples show, I am always looking for balance in different aspects of life….and that seems to permeate to my clothing choices too. Subtle & classy, or spirited & colorful? I know a lot of us have these various likes in us, and they can sometimes be at odds to each other. So, when one does hit that sweet spot, it feels extra special. Did so recently, and that sweet feeling just gets its own blog post!
The occasion was an impromptu dinner, and I wore what I’d like to think, is a chic and elegant look with a bit of playfulness to it. The top is from a collection by Storets. I have been taken by the Storets collection this summer that have been churning out one quality piece after the other. Their collection embodies the kind of balance I was referring to: sophisticated yet fun pieces. This particular piece has its sleeves as its defining highlight – a lot of Storets’ pieces actually do come with uniquely styled sleeves.
I liked quite a few tops in their collection, and finally narrowed down on this one. I have written earlier about my love for the cold shoulder trend this season, and this piece just emphasizes the point. The draped sleeves, the cold shoulder and to top it all, the spunky bow tie. I really had to go for this one. Sexy and elegant at the same time.
I paired the top with a light pink skirt from ROMWE. This piece has been a revelation in my wardrobe. I bought it imagining it to be very narrow in its utility, but I’ve found it to be super easy to mix and match with a whole lot of outfits and to dress it up or down based on the occasion.
The gorgeous color is such a pretty shade of pink and it goes well with all whites, black, and other dark colors. And if the color and the vibe wasn’t enough, the scalloped hem line adds a unique edge to the skirt. Do check their website, it’s a little known gem, and they have a gorgeous and reasonably priced collection.
I wore these with a pair of pumps from Sole Society. (Regular readers, yes, I know…I’m SoleSociety-crushing again). It’s a simple, elegant and comfortable pair of shoes, and has a very Fall fashion feel to them.
