Damn, I feel every time I write one of these, I’m more amazed than ever at yet another month whistling by. Hope you readers are doing well. How are those New Year resolutions coming along? I am steadily checking off a few from time to time. This time of the year also marks my 1st blogversary. I have been blogging for a few years now, but last year was when I began this blog, and started creating content on a regular basis. So in keeping with the blogversary spirit, I wanted to do something special to mark the occasion and see if I could help out a bit with my pointers from the blogging experience. A lot of young(er) bloggers have been asking me off late for any tips and tricks in the blogging world, and I’m always more than glad to share what I have learnt.
So in the next few posts, I’ll be documenting some of my experiences. I’m no expert, but hey sharing’s a charm. I’ve already shared a lot of these notes privately to folks who’ve asked but this will be a good central plan to find some handy info for those looking for any, a Blogging 101, so to speak. When I decided to start the blog, I couldn’t find all the information I needed in one place. Had to piece together bits of info from various places. This new section in the blog will hopefully help with that experience. I will be documenting here all that I have learnt past one year as well as I will be updating the posts with new information as well.
I created and manage CodeDressed, like most new bloggers do, on my own. Though I am an engineer by profession, I hadn’t done anything to do with website designing before and therefore have had to learn on the go. I am planning to share all that I learnt here right from the basics of how to pick a hosting service, how to get a domain name, selecting a theme, plugins I use in my website, link to the theme I use for my blog currently and why I chose it, how I edit my pictures, presets I use in lightroom, how I edit wrinkles and spots on clothes using photoshop, monetizing the blog (linkshare, Reward style, liketoknow.it and other affiliate programs I use), programs I work with on getting collaborations, how to promote your Instagram account etc. These can all be found in a new section called Blogging 101 – look under the ‘After Hours’ tab on the Home page. It’ll be a one-stop shop for all the resources you would need. I will be updating the posts as I learn new things as well. I’ll have the first post out next week. Let me know what you think of this series, and anything you have in mind for me to cover in it.
